About the Argentine Pila
The Argentine Pila is a rare hairless companion breed from northwestern Argentina, related to other South American hairless dogs and long kept by families for company and, by tradition, for the warmth its bare skin provides. Coming in small, medium and large sizes, it is a smooth, warm-skinned dog with an affectionate, alert and gentle nature. Loyal and people-oriented, it forms strong bonds and is generally good with families. It suits owners seeking an unusual, low-shedding companion who can protect its exposed skin from sun and cold and provide close human company.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.

History
The Argentine Pila is a hairless landrace from the provinces of northwestern Argentina, thought to share ancestry with the Peruvian and Mexican hairless dogs of pre-Columbian origin. It was traditionally kept as a household companion and bed warmer and remains rare and largely undocumented internationally. It is not recognized by the major international kennel registries.
Temperament
Affectionate, loyal and alert, the Argentine Pila bonds closely with its family and is typically gentle and people-oriented. It can be reserved with strangers and makes an attentive companion. As a lightly documented landrace, temperament varies, but it is generally an amiable house dog.
