About the Ariegeois
The Ariegeois is a French pack scenthound from the Ariege region of the Pyrenees, bred to hunt hare and other small game in packs across rough southern terrain. Elegant, light-boned and finely built, it has a keen nose, melodious voice and the endurance to work long days. Gentle, sociable and affectionate, it is a cooperative pack dog that gets along well with other hounds and its handlers. It suits hunters and very active owners who can provide plentiful exercise, canine company and scenting activity, and who appreciate a friendly, tireless working hound.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.
