About the Armant
The Armant, also called the Egyptian Sheepdog, is a rugged herding and guardian breed from Egypt, named for a town near Luxor and traditionally used to herd and protect livestock and homes. Medium-sized and shaggy-coated, it is a hardy, alert and courageous working dog well adapted to a hot climate. Intelligent, devoted and protective, it bonds strongly with its family and is naturally wary of strangers. Little standardized and rare outside its homeland, it suits active, experienced owners who can offer a job, firm guidance and socialization for a spirited working herder-guardian.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.
