About the Croatian Sheepdog
The Croatian Sheepdog is an agile, medium-small herding breed from Croatia, valued for its intelligence, energy, and strong working drive. Predominantly black with a wavy or curly coat and a fox-like face, it was bred to move and manage cattle and sheep across the plains of Slavonia. Highly alert and quick to learn, it is a tireless worker that excels at herding and dog sports. Devoted and eager to please, it bonds closely with its handler and can be a lively, affectionate companion. It is watchful and vocal toward strangers, making a good watchdog, and it needs abundant exercise and mental stimulation to stay content.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.
