About the Danish-Swedish Farmdog
The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is a compact, versatile working dog traditionally found on farms across Denmark and southern Sweden, where it served as ratter, watchdog, and all-purpose companion. Despite a somewhat terrier-like appearance, it is classified among the pinscher and schnauzer type breeds and combines a friendly, easygoing nature with genuine athleticism. Its smooth, short coat is mostly white with patches of black, brown, or tan, and needs little upkeep. Alert, playful, and eager to please, the Farmdog excels at agility, flyball, and obedience while remaining a calm, affectionate presence indoors. Energetic yet adaptable, it thrives with active owners.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.

History
This breed has existed for centuries as a common farm dog across Denmark and the Scania region of southern Sweden, valued for controlling vermin, guarding, and herding. Only in 1987 did Danish and Swedish kennel clubs jointly establish a formal standard to preserve the traditional type. It gained FCI recognition in 2019 and remains relatively uncommon outside Scandinavia.
Temperament
Danish-Swedish Farmdogs are friendly, lively, and attentive, combining terrier boldness with a cooperative, trainable disposition. They form close bonds with their families, tend to be good with children, and are alert watchdogs without excessive aggression. Their high energy and curiosity mean they need daily activity and mental engagement to stay content.
