About the Grand Anglo-Francais Blanc et Noir
The Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Noir is a large French pack scenthound created by crossing English Foxhounds with native French hounds to hunt large game such as deer and boar. As its name indicates, it combines Anglo-French ancestry with a white-and-black coat, often carrying ticking and tan markings. Built for stamina and pack work, it trails big game tirelessly and gives voice with a deep, ringing bay. Sociable, even-tempered and cooperative among fellow hounds, it is bred strictly as a working hunting dog kept in kennels rather than as a pet. It requires enormous amounts of exercise, secure containment and, ideally, an active hunting role to remain balanced and content.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.

History
The Grand Anglo-Français breeds were developed in France by crossing English Foxhounds with large French scenthounds such as the Poitevin and Gascon-Saintongeois, producing versatile big-game pack hounds. The white-and-black variety was standardized as one of three color-defined Grand Anglo-Français breeds. It is recognized by the FCI and used almost exclusively for pack hunting in France.
Temperament
These hounds are gentle, balanced and thoroughly sociable, selected to hunt cooperatively in large packs without conflict. They are friendly with people and highly tolerant of other dogs, but their overriding drive to follow game makes them independent and difficult to recall off-lead. They need handlers who understand and can accommodate their working temperament.

Health considerations to discuss
Ear infections. Long drop ears trap moisture and need regular cleaning.
