About the Serbian Hound
The Serbian Hound is a medium-sized Balkan scenthound bred to trail hare, fox, and boar through the hills and forests of the region. Sturdy and well-muscled, it wears a short, dense coat of rich red or fawn with a black saddle or mantle, giving it a handsome, workmanlike look. Persistent and driven on a trail, it hunts with a loud, melodious voice and considerable stamina, often working alone or in small groups. At home it is calm, affectionate, and devoted to its family, though it retains strong hunting instincts and needs vigorous daily exercise. Even-tempered and hardy, it suits active owners in rural settings who can provide it real work or long, engaging outings.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.
