About the Standard Schnauzer
The Standard Schnauzer is the original schnauzer, a bold, bearded German farm dog once trusted to guard the cart, dispatch vermin, and mind the family, and that versatile working history still shows in his sharp mind and abundant energy. Spirited, fearless, and endlessly curious, he is a quick study who craves mental challenges and can grow willful or mischievous without them. His harsh, wiry coat sheds very little, which many owners appreciate, but it needs regular grooming and, for show coats, hand-stripping to keep its correct texture. Devoted and protective of his people yet playful and comical at home, the Standard Schnauzer suits an active household ready to engage his considerable intelligence every day.
Every dog is an individual — genetics, socialization, health, training, and environment matter more than breed averages.
